SFR was formed by Compagnie Générale des Eaux (later known as Vivendi) in 1987. Merged with Telecom Development, and became largest private operator of fixed telecommunications in France. Vivendi bought 44% stake in SFR from Vodafone and became the sole owner. Launched 3G, ADSL and 4G services in 2004, 2007 and 2014 respectively. Currently, also offers fiber internet and TV services. Merged with Numericable to form Numericable-SFR.
