India has over 701,011 startups, making it the third-largest startup hub globally. Of these, 34.5K are funded companies that have collectively raised $626B in venture capital and private equity. The country is home to 94 unicorns. A total of 121,569 investors have participated in 51,500 funding rounds, with 3,036 startups securing early-stage funding and 885 raising late-stage funding. In the last five years, 75,383 new companies have been founded, raising over $11.6B in funding. Startups in India have witnessed 5,218 acquisitions and 6,190 IPOs, while 108,784 startups wrapped up operations. Additionally, 23,461 companies have been founded by women.
