Key facts about Micro Interventional

MacuLogix develops products for the detection and tracking of retinal diseases. Flagship product AdaptDx has received FDA 510(k) clearance for the measurement of dark adaptation function. The AdaptDx provides a non-invasive and objective measure of retinal function, through measurement of dark adaptation(the changes that occur when a person moves from a lit area into darkness), which is captured in a single parameter called the rod intercept. The rod intercept is the time for recovery of scotopic sensitivity (or night vision) to a benchmark level. Patients with AMD, RP, and other macular degenerations typically have slower dark adaptation, with the slowing getting worse as the disease progresses. To perform the measurements, the patient sits in front of the AdaptDx and looks continuously at a fixation light in the center of his field of view. After exposure to a brief camera flash that sets patients to a light-adapted state, a stimulus light appears every few seconds in the patient’s near peripheral vision and becomes progressively dimmer over time. Whenever the patient sees the stimulus light, he responds by pressing a response button. This process allows the physician to plot the time course of the patient’s dark adaptation. Received CE mark in Sep 2015.
