Having secured exclusive worldwide rights for all diagnostic and therapeutic applications related to PCA3, a genetic marker highly specific to prostate cancer, DiagnoCure developed a first diagnostic application, called uPM3™, which enabled the detection of PCA3 RNA expression in prostate cancer cells found in urine. In 2003, the Corporation granted a worldwide exclusive license on diagnostic applications of PCA3 to Gen-Probe Incorporated. The company's colorectal cancer staging test, PrevistageTM GCC, uses the Guanylyl Cyclase C (GCC or GUCY2C) marker to stratify the risk of colon cancer recurrence by more accurately determining the stage of the disease. PrevistageTM GCC is currently the only colorectal cancer staging test providing prognostic information based on the tumor burden measured at the molecular level in the lymph nodes.
