Company Details

Dr. Martens is a footwear and clothing brand. The brand was started by Klaus Märtena doctor in the German army during World War II, in 1947. He designed boots for injured feet, with soft leather and air-padded soles made of tires. In 1959, R. Griggs Group bought patent rights to manufacture the shoes in the UK. In October 2013 Permira, a PE firm acquired R. Griggs Group Limited (the owner of the Dr. Martens brand) for an amount of £300M.
