Jessops (originally Jessop of Leicester) is an operator of photography and camera stores. The company was started by Frank Jessop in 1935. They sell products such as conventional and digital cameras, camcorders, binoculars, studio and darkroom equipment, film, and photographic materials. They also offer developing, printing, and digital imaging services. As of June 2016, they operate 52 stores across the UK. The company was acquired by Bridgepoint Capital in 1996 with ABN Amro acquiring the company for £116M in 2002. Following financial difficulties in 2007, the group's trades were transferred to Snap Equity Limited. On 21 June 2007, Jessops announced the closure of their stores. However, the company was acquired by Peter Jones in 2013.
