MedBase - Company Profile

Medbase provides medical decision support databases to healthcare professionals for safe clinical use of drugs. It also offers patient versions for selected databases. The databases produced by Medbase claim to cover all important areas of drug therapy to provide the end-user with a concise decision support when prescribing or dispensing drugs. Solutions are based on SQL technology so that they can be integrated with any portal or mobile technology. Integration to electronic patient record systems or pharmacy dispensing systems gives the end-user a real-time warning on a potential medical hazard. All clinical recommendations have been classified into four different categories according to the GRADE system using color coding for the different clinical classifications. Products include SFINX (Swedish, Finnish, INteraction X-referencing) - a drug-drug interaction database; XREACTBASE - a database covering evidence-based information on the cross-reactivity between clinically used drugs; HEPARBASE - decision support database containing information on the safety and detailed dosage recommendations of different drugs; RENBASE - decision support database containing information on the safety and detailed dosage recommendations of different drugs and other substances, such as vitamins and micronutrients in patients with renal failure; GRAVBASE which provides evidence-based information on the safety of different drugs during pregnancy; LACTBASE which provides information on the safety of different drugs during lactation; and PHARAO - a complementary database to SFINX presenting a risk profile of patient’s medication based on pharmacodynamic properties.
