Scape Technologies is a London-based computer vision startup that has developed a cloud-based visual engine which allows augmented reality content to be anchored to specific locations, outdoors. It is essentially a mapping pipeline that processes images and videos, resulting in a machine-readable HD map of the environment, aligned to the physical world. Through these HD maps, any camera devices can then query the Visual Positioning Service API, offered by the company, to determine the exact location of the same. The company claims that the location of the device is determined with centimeter-level accuracy, within three seconds, and is scalable at the city level, as well as secure and GDPR compliant. The SDK is compatible with Unity, Android, and iOS.
