Company Details

Royal Canin is a manufacturer and supplier of dog and cat food, founded by a French veterinary surgeon Jean Cathary. They have an in-house team that undertakes research into the formulation prepared and testing of the breed and symptom-specific requirements. The company was acquired by Guyomarc'h Group in 1972 and then by Paribas Bank in 1990 following further expansion. Royal Canin was listed on the French Stock Exchange and was removed after Mars acquired the company in 2001. In March 2004, Royal Canin acquired the veterinary grade manufacturers/service providers the IVD, Medi–Cal and Techni–Cal brands from Del Monte Foods for $82.5 million.
